Freeform recently premiered its addictive new series Beyond, a sci-fi thriller about a young man who awakens from a 12-year coma and discovers new abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.
OMFGTV hopped on the phone with leading man Burkely Duffield to talk about what fans can expect from the rest of Beyond‘s inaugural season.
“There is a lot more that is going to happen to Holden as well as a lot of the characters that [you met] in the first two episodes,” Duffield tells us. “You get the ball rolling on Holden realizing that as much as he wants to get his past back and live back in the life of his 13-year-old body, it’s not possible, unfortunately.”
He goes on to say that Holden is just going to have to accept the lost time and move forward with his life, which he says is “a big step” for him.
“Throughout the episodes of the rest of the season, you’re going to see Holden start putting one foot in front of the other and choosing those paths whether it be good or bad, up or down, and sort of try to get his life back on track through his world, his relationships and as well as these abilities he figures out he now has.”
Possessing these abilities puts a big target on his back, and as we learned from the premiere, a group of individuals from what is — as of now — known only as “The Organization” will stop at nothing to capture him.
“That is where our antagonists lie,” Duffield says of the organization. “It is something that is definitely going to be explained more in future episodes. It is perhaps a force that of course Holden, being this regular guy, being given these unbelievable abilities that he exhibits has caught the attention of someone or something or some organization so perhaps they are not quite as genuine at heart as Holden is and are out there to figure out how he got those powers or what they are to them.”
